Miata's in Paradise 2000...Daytona Beach, Fl.

October 24-27, 2000

This year's Miata trip took us (along with almost 400 other Miata's) to the national event in Daytona Beach, FL.

We departed St. Louis with another Miata on a dreary, rainy Sunday. No top-down driving until the next day. With overnight stops in Murfreesboro, TN and Tifton, GA we arrived at the Adam's Mark in Daytona Beach early Tuesday afternoon.

The event included a group photo and touring laps at the Daytona Speedway and too many other venues to allow you to take them all in. We managed to spend an entire day at the Space Center at Cape Canaveral...and still didn't get to see it all.

The return trip took us on a scenic drive up highway A1A beside the Atlantic and a short (3-4 hour) shopping/sightseeing stop in Savannah, GA as well as touring the Biltmore Mansion in Asheville, NC. Then another scenic drive along part of the Blue Ridge Parkway and THREE trips through Deal's Gap...a mecca for sportscars, cramming 318 turns in only 11 miles!

We hope you enjoy the pictures...just click on the pic to enlarge...

Jan and Carol enjoy a morning ride (note the lollipops, too)

These events start early. That's a sunRISE, not a sunSET!!

When it rains every 30 minutes, it's tough to stay shiny!

This track is AWESOME

What a ride...but well under 200 mph

We're ready for the picture

Lining up for the group photo

Ever wonder what almost 400 Miata's in one place looks like?

The Vanderbilt's knew how to live!!

And they had a pretty nice view, too
