As you can see, I got bit by the sports car bug early in life. I must owe this passion to my folks (or whoever bought me the spiffy roadster pictured above).
I've owned several sports (and "sporty") cars ranging from a Karmann-Ghia convertible, Corvair Spyder convertible, 1960 MGA, Fiat 850 and a 1972 MGB, which was my "sunny day driver" until the Miata came along.
I guess it follows that someone that likes sports cars would also be interested in auto racing, and I'm no exception. My primary interest is CART, followed by Silver Crown, NASCAR, F1 and WOO...in that order. I've been fortunate enough to see some F1 races when the US still hosted an event and was a frequent visitor to Indianapolis before the CART/IRL split. Haven't been back to Indy since, but fortunately CART has brought their racing to our doorstep with the opening of Gateway International Raceway in Madison, IL.
In 1996, my wife and daughter gave me the opportunity to attend the 3-day Skip Barber Race Driving School...sort of a fantasy camp for me...and it's been one of the highlights of my recent past. Follow the link to share my experience!
